New snow and wind slabs are to be critically assessed. The danger of dry slab avalanches is within the uppermost range of danger level 3 (considerable). As a consequence of new snow and wind the already large wind slabs have increased in size once again during the first half of the night. These can over a wide area be released by people and reach large size. The avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular on very steep east and south facing slopes above approximately 2000 m. <br/> <br/> Large quantities of fresh snow and the wind-drifted snow of last week can be released easily, or, in isolated cases naturally in all aspects and generally at intermediate and high altitudes. In many cases the avalanches in these regions are medium-sized and very easily released. <br/> <br/> The current avalanche situation calls for extensive experience in the assessment of avalanche danger. The avalanche situation is scarcely more favourable in highly frequented off-piste terrain. On Sunday on wind-loaded slopes several small and, in isolated cases, medium-sized avalanches were released. <br/> <br/> In all altitude zones a very large amount ofsnow is lying for the time of year. The danger of dry slab avalanches will not decrease for the time being.
