Wind slabs at high altitude. The wind slabs are in some cases extensive and to be assessed with care and prudence. These can in isolated cases be released, even by a single winter sport participant and reach medium size. The avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls above approximately 2300 m. <br/> The surface of the snowpack will freeze very little and will already soften in the late morning. As a consequence of warming more moist avalanches are to be expected from midday, but they will be mostly small. Gliding avalanches are also to be expected. The avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular on rocky sunny slopes at low and intermediate altitudes and on very steep grassy slopes below approximately 2300 m. In all aspects numerous small and, in isolated cases, medium-sized avalanches were observed. The high temperatures as the day progresses gave rise to increasing settling of the snowpack in all aspects especially at low and intermediate altitudes. 50 to 70 cm of snow, and even more in some localities, fell in the last three days above approximately 2000 m. Adjacent to ridgelines in all aspects as well as at high altitude snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind. Experience in the assessment of avalanche danger is required. Slight decrease in danger of moist avalanches as the temperature drops.
